Welcome to our new House on Wheels!

Well, it’s taken me almost a week to get settled enough to put a quick post together to welcome everyone to our new (to us) House on Wheels … But here she is! 🙂

Bringing home our new HOW 1.10.15 (Washington)

Now, you would think that bumping up in size from the 26′ TT to a 38′ 5th Wheel would have been a piece of cake to get organized and find a place for everything. Not so much. I am making progress, but I still feel like I need to make some changes and additions to really make the most of the storage we have now. It’s probably just because everything is so spaced out. LoL

Here’s the quick nickel tour …

The kitchen – lots of counter space and cabinets. But the best part is the Sharpe Micro/Convection oven!! It’s been three years since I had on oven!! Woohoo! 🙂

The living room – The recliners are actually very comfortable and there’s plenty of floor space to get our workouts done! 🙂

The steps leading to bed and bath – It seems strange to have stairs in our home again.

Shower – Much bigger than we’re used to and no cold shower curtain rubbing up against us! Even better than the extra elbow room, I don’t have to squat down at all to wash/rinse my hair!! LoL 🙂

Separate Lav – Believe it or not, we had a hard time finding a separate lav with a basin in the room. I don’t really get that set up at all, but it’s quite common. Thankfully, this unit has a sink!

Laundry room – This was sort of unexpected and not an item on our must have list. But now that we have them I’m glad they’re here.

And finally, the bedroom – Look, there’s room on all three sides of the bed! I have to admit, it took me a minute to remember how to use lingerie draws again. LoL But, the built-ins are awesome. 🙂

20150113_142627I wasn’t too sure about having a vanity and sink in the bedroom. But it actually works out great. It makes getting ready at the same time much easier. 🙂

We are absolutely in love with our new home. Going from a 26′ travel trailer to this is obviously a big improvement. But honestly, we were so happy together in the little HOW it wasn’t as uncomfortable as some might think. Sure, it was a little cramped at times, but it was an awesome “bonding experience”. 😉 Hey, we didn’t kill each other in less than 100 square feet, so we should be good for the long haul in this one now! LoL 😉

Here’s one more look at the old HOW … thanks for the memories little one!

The slide was in when I took these pics. It isn’t quite that cramped inside!

One week from today it will be three years to the day since we left Connecticut with everything we wanted to take with us stuffed into the F150. (A look back on that day)

January 26, 2012 Leaving CT

It seems hard to believe we’ve come so far in such a short time. We’ve made a lot of sacrifices along the way. Traveling thousands of miles with short lead times for projects, working crazy long days for weeks at a time, limiting our trips to see family to once a year, and going without many of the things we were accustomed to having in our sticks & bricks lifestyle, just to name a few.

While the sacrifices have been many, the truth is the experience has brought us closer together than I ever thought possible. Through the good times and scary times (Yes, there were a few – living in a tent and eating PB&J comes to mind. lol) we’ve conquered every challenge and weathered every storm. I am so proud of the man I chose to be my partner in this incredible adventure of life! He truly is the captain that leads our little team to victory day in and day out. I love you Babe!!

Naturally we will still face obstacles as we continue to live our nomadic lifestyle. But we are so excited to be facing them together with an even stronger foundation to build upon as we move forward. 🙂

A toast to the future and the many happy miles and memories we have ahead!!

About Wendy

I am a full-time RVer living a nomadic life with my husband as he travels throughout the United States for his career. Our mobile castle is a 38 foot 5th wheel with all the comforts of home and office. I do a little freelance writing here and there. Maybe someday I'll finish that novel. In addition to writing, I've developed a passion for health and fitness. It's taken my nearly 50 years to really nurture this passion, (eeeek!) but now that I'm on board I'm loving the journey. As a matter of fact, I love it so much I decided to become a full-time Team Beachbody Coach. Contact me today if you'd like to be a part of one of my private Motivation and Accountability Groups on Facebook or if you're interested in the Team Beachbody Coaching opportunity.

    • Thank you so much! I just popped over to your blog. Wow! Love your header pic!! We’ve been in Washington for a little over two months now and boy am I missing the sunshine! LoL Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  1. Wow W. Truly awesome! Love it. So glad this is working out for you. Can’t believe it’s been three years. We do miss you kids but we couldn’t be happier for you both.

    • Thanks FLB!! Yeah it does seem hard to believe sometimes. Then again when I think about all the places we’ve been, it doesn’t seem like it’s only been 3 years. LoL Did you notice Betty on my desk??? Love ya Sista!!

  2. Wendy, your new HOW is gorgeous! We spent last weekend in Florida at a huge RV show and the options and choices are truly endless. We are probably going to end up with a motorcoach, since we need to tow the motorcycles in a trailer, but will be looking for many of the same amenities as you have in the 5th wheel. I am so glad to hear how much you and your hub have loved the lifestyle. I think we will too, but we still want to rent a time or two before we take the plunge; since we are keeping our home, it will be a second large commitment. And I have learned so much from my RV blog friends, so thank you!

    • Thank you Lynne! I’ve been seeing pics online about the FL RV show. Looks like a huge event!! We spent a lot of time trying to find just the right rig at just the right price and we’re really happy with our choice. I’m excited for you guys to be on your search. Renting a couple of times is a great idea! I’m sure with your adventurous spirits you’re going to love the lifestyle as much as we do! 🙂

      • It WAS enormous, and they basically had everything there. We had to steel ourselves not to look at things we know we won’t buy. There simply wasn’t enough time. Also to keep on our plan to finish the research, rent a couple times, THEN find the right rig at a good price. 🙂

  3. Gorgeous Rig! We too went full-time last year and upgraded from a TT to a Fiver. We find that we are closer because of our lifestyle and are loving the way of life!

    • Thank you so much! I just checked out your blog and followed along. 🙂 It looks like you’ve been to some gorgeous spots! I’m looking forward to reading more about your travels. I agree with you completely about growing closer since we’ve been full-timing. We always joke that if we haven’t left one another at a rest stop yet, especially while in the 26′ TT, we should be good for the long haul!! LoL Safe travels to you, perhaps we’ll meet on the road one day! 🙂

    • Thank you! I think we are finally settled in. It took me a while to find just the right place for everything. LoL

All comments are appreciated! Go ahead... tell me what you're thinking :-)
